The Christian Life curriculum at Lutheran High School of Hawaii provides the cornerstone to the LHS experience. Focusing on Bible study, discipleship, relationship-building, and real-life application, each year provides spiritual maturation.

Christian Life 9

The first year of Christian Life class focuses on building community between classmates as students are exposed to a variety of topics about the Bible and to what the life of a Christian person looks like.  The main emphasis of the course is to explore how Jesus Christ’s life and teachings impact and relate to students’ daily lives. Additional topics include:

• Bible study
• Effective communication
• Decision-making
• Discipleship

Christian Life 10

The second year of Christian Life 10 focuses on exploring the history of God’s plan for the world by reading through the Old Testament.  Students will discover not only the “small” Old Testament stories and characters, but also how God’s “big” picture plan of salvation for the world through his Son Jesus is present in each Old Testament book.  The main emphasis of the course is to discuss how the history of God’s plan for the world and the lives of the Old Testament characters impact and relate to students’ daily lives.

• First semester: Genesis-Joshua
• Second semester: Judges-Books of Prophecy

Christian Life 11

The third year of Christian Life class focuses on exploring the New Testament, centering on the climax of God’s plan of salvation: Jesus and His death and resurrection. The main emphasis of the course is to discover how Christ’s sacrifice, resurrection, and the gift of the Holy Spirit impact believers and the world, both in the early church and today.  This impact is also emphasized in relationship to students’ lives as they explore a relationship with Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Christian Life 12

The final year of Christian Life class focuses on exploring major world religions, secular worldviews, and Christian apologetics.  The main emphasis of the course is to prepare LHS seniors to critically analyze belief systems and the behaviors that spring from them; thereby giving them the tools to be able to assess their own worldview and compare it with Biblical truth. Opportunities for students to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ are given by seeking a Biblical perspective of these topics, having students lead class Bible study, and delving into the facts and the why of Christianity.

• First semester: World Religions & Secular Worldviews
• Second semester: The Case for Christ and The Book that Transforms Nations
